Our Work

Ustawi Global’s program is multifaceted in its approach.
Through a combination of integrated learning experiences that enhance household and community agency, we address the complexities of multidimensional living.
By focusing on regenerative well-being, authentic relationships, and entrepreneurial skills, our creative approach seeks to sustain the transformative impact of these experiences on community development.

Our Theory of Change

Ustawi Global’s work is rooted in measurable progress that breaks the cycle of extreme poverty across multidimensional aspects of life in order to achieve collective flourishing.

Ustawi Survey

Year start: 2021
Location: Mashuuru, Kajiado County, Kenya
Partner: Fundación Paraguaya, Paraguay

Why?
Awareness of the multiple dimensions of life sparks a deeper understanding of household strengths and challenges, including psychosocial, educational, and economic factors.

What?
The Ustawi Survey tracks household and community progress across six dimensions of life. Each household co-creates a Life Map to record their greatest strengths and challenges. Ustawi Global creates a Community Report that summarizes the findings across all households.

How?
Ustawi Facilitators increase awareness of the multiple dimensions of life through interviews conducted using the Ustawi Survey. They encourage the household members to advocate for themselves by co-creating the Life Map. The Ustawi Team facilitates community conversations to take action on the goals identified on the Life Maps, particularly when there is a possibility for collective flourishing.

We will visit the Mashuuru community for the third time in November 2025

Life Maps are a useful guide for households to identify their strengths and visualize their goals for the future.
Ustawi Mentorship is informed by Derek Peterson's Web of Support framework.
